Kristina Razoumova-Objectivism & Subjectivism of Beauty

Objectivism & Subjectivism of Beauty
My Choice
11/13/15

In attempt to explore my own question raised in the blog on 11/11/15 I decided to take a more philosophical approach to the issue. Is beauty objective or subjective or both?
If we look at beauty from the objective side, we would have to agree that there is a universal idea of beauty. When talking about beauty we would be able to recall our own experiences and for the most part describe the same concept. But if beauty were only objective then why do some things come off and beautiful to some and fall short for others? So we would have to explore the subjective element.
So if we look at beauty as subjective then it is going to be in the eyes of the beholder. Yes, in fact this is true. When defining beauty, we are each accustomed to our own experiences. But why then do we all have some overarching concept of beauty?
My answer is beauty is both depending on what realm one wishes to discuss. When looking at things in the physical world subjectivity comes into play. Everyone experiences things differently and thus rises the subjectivity of beauty. How ever the essence of beauty is objective. This to me personally holds much more weight because it is unchangeable and universal. It cannot be found in material things it is something much greater.
